It's Been Such a Long Time

Well I havn't posted to this for a long time, as I've been to bored to move. I set up mobile posting so maybe that will help me remember to post things when I see them. Today the school has decided to spring the writing test on everyone. This normally wouldn't be bad, seeing as I don't even have to take it because I took it two years ago, but it keeps me from simply going to a room and getting a book that I need to finish my homework. With the way that the school system operates, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I don't have a first period class. I either come in late, or wait in a teacher's room. Today, I planned oncoming in at the usual time and finishing my homework. Unfortunatley, the wrting test keeps me from doing this, so I'll have to hurry and finish the assignment during the eight minutes that I have for break. The test also keeps us in first period for an extended amount of time. This is going to be lovely.

So, I've become one of the many people to survive the H1N1 virus. With today's medicine, I was only miserable for one day, when my fever had peaked at 102°. Once I went to the doctor and got my medicine, I started feeling better. The truth is that H1N1 has caused children and old people to die, but so does the regular seasonal flu. People were just scared because there wasn't a current vaccine for the virus.

I also took the SAT over the weekend. Why does that test have to be so long? Halfway through the test I thought that I was done, but I turned to the next page of the answer sheet and realized that there were just as many questions to go. I have heard from many english teachers that the North Carolina writing test is flawed because a good paper can't be written in 200 minutes, but the SAT tells you to write an essay in 25. I was able to make a page and a half, but at what cost to quality? I wont know untill October 29, when the test scores arrive. Hopefully, I did well.

Today seems like it wont be too bad of a day. We get to watch A Knight's Tale in Halsey's class, and psychology wasn't bad this morning. The teacher didn't notice that we had logged in so we just sat there with the microphone off, and told him we were there at the last minute.

I've also been playing a new game that my friend Pierre showed me. It's a MMORPG called Mabinogi. It's one of the free games from Nexon.net, and I must admit for a free game, it's really addictive.

So, there's not much to do today, and I've developed a slight cold. So my throat's been scratchy, my nose has been stopped up, I've coughed, and I've been drowsy. I took some NyQuil last night so I was out like a light.

There's been a lot to think about over the weekend. Especially the VMA's. It was quite enjoyable to watch Kanye West make a fool out of himself... again. Just out of nostalgia, I got on Youtube and watched the infamous "George Bush doesn't care about black people" clip. But afterwards Beyonce did the right thing by letting Taylor Swift give her acceptance speech. I've never liked Kanye that much, but he really crossed the line when he ruined a perfectly good Daft Punk song.

The performers at the VMA's really weren't all that good, with the exception of Green Day and Muse. I remember being blown away by Muse a few years ago when they opened at a My Chemical Romance concert in Charlotte. I had never even imagined a clear guitar before. MCR put on a good show, but nowhere as good as Green Day.

As a member of the marching band, I am required to attend the football games on Friday, where I play sax in the stands, and bass on the field. Last Friday in particular the team wasn't doing so well, and I realized that the games could get quite boring. So I played my music in the stands. At halftime, we had to put on a marching show for the crowd. The local news channel was filming the game, so they got a few shots of the band. The cameraman decided that I would make a good shot, knelt right next to me and put the camera on me. Naturally, that night I watched the news to see myself on the television. They get to the part about all the football games, and skip any shot thats not of cheerleaders or football. The football I can understand, but our cheerleaders can barley dance to our music. One time they tried to dance to a song in 5/4 time. They failed.

Back to being sick though, Last night I had to go to Wal-Mart so I could get the NyQuil that so quickly knocked me out. As I was leaving I heard someone listening to Cage the Elephant, and now I can't seem to get the song out of my head
"There ain't no rest for the wicked, money don't grow on trees..."
I need to go and get that CD. It would keep me thoroughly entertained.

The Boredom Begins

So here I am, quite bored and nowhere to go. Maybe i ought to read a book. I heard that The Catcher in the Rye was back in the library today, and if I feel up to it I may go and see if it's there. My friend Pyrtle seems to be reading everything I type, and is quite uninterested in studying for his civics test. Now he's moved on to looking at something about the high school. He says it's something about the class of 2013; that brings to mind the lyrics of a Green Day song,

"...We are the class of, the class of '13. Born in the era of humility..."

I love that song, especially the part that this line came from. It reminds me of some sort of Irish party. Well I'll be going off to try and find that book now. Do keep watching for more posts.
